For those of you new to cubing, WELCOME!

We wanted to let you know this event is perfectly fine for cubers of any age and experience. We just ask you know a couple things before coming to compete...

First, please be familiar with the WCA Regulations.

Of course, those regulations contain a lot of legalese, so we have a video made specifically for new cubers, just to show them the basics of competing. This video will explain most of what any cuber competing for the first time will need to know.

Q&A:

Q: Do I use my own cube to compete?
A: YES! You are responsible for your own hardware in order to compete.

Q: What is the normal age of competitors at these events?
A: All ages are welcome, but in general competitors are between 10 and 20 years old. Don't let this stop you though, everyone can and should cube!

Q: What is the competition like?
A: Competitions are a bunch of tables where nerds like us get to sit and discuss our favorite thing, cubes! Of course in addition there is competing, which will occupy one side of the competition hall, where you will see lots of timers flickering with contestants new personal bests. Most competitions have a break for lunch, and the competing is split up into heats, as to better organize who competes when. (There will be an email shortly before the competition with more information about this.)

Q: How do I find results?
A: All results are posted on the WCA page a couple of days after the competition finishes. However, for the day of competing, go to WCA Live to find information about current events. This is also where you will find information about 2nd and 3rd rounds of events.

Q: Why am I not on the registration list yet?
A: Filling out the initial registration form is not enough to show up on the registration list. You must also pay the registration fee. Registrations are approved manually after payment has been received, so it may take a day or so to show up on the list.

Q: Are there age divisions?
A: Nope! All competitors compete in the same group.

Q: Can I have fun at this event?
A: HECK YES! Cubing is amazing, and we sincerely hope you enjoy the competition!

To ensure the safety of attendees, we ask attendees to follow these guidelines:

  • Attendees are highly encouraged to stay at least 3 feet (1 meter) apart for the entirety of the competition
  • All attendees are recommended to wear face-coverings that cover their mouth and nose when using indoor facilities, competing, and staffing, regardless of vaccination status.
  • All competitors showing symptoms of COVID-19 or who have been exposed to COVID-19 in the 2 weeks before the competition must not attend the competition.
  • We will provide hand sanitizer, masks, and disinfecting wipes to everyone in attendance, and we encourage attendees to regularly sanitize.

By registering for this competition you agree that you understand and will follow all the information listed above.

Groups:
Competitor groups and volunteer groups can be viewed here after the registration deadline.

Groups

All Competitors:
We segment our competitors to compete in "groups" at a time. For example, while group 1 is competing, group 2 will be free and can practice, socialize with other cubers, or volunteer to help out with the competition if they wish.

Staffing Assignments:
In addition, you may also receive assignments for helping with judging and running. For each event you sign up for, you will be assigned to help out for one or more group(s) of that event.

Additionally, while we will have a few designated staff members volunteering all day, we may make additional calls for help with judging, running, and scrambling throughout the day and encourage all competitors to help out in order to keep the competition running smoothly.

Live results can found on the WCA Live website at https://live.worldcubeassociation.org/competitions/1342.
